I picked this Sandpit up from Lidi this morning 1st April 2017 on my way home from a night shift. My wife had seen it in the Lidi leaflet we get thought the door. My first thoughts where it can’t be any good as the cheapest you can normally find them is £50 or more. However, having got stuff from Lidi before. I have found their products to be Okay. Realistically I be happy even if it only lasted the Easter holidays as it was only £35 pound.
So, I get it home and open the box to find as normal with flat pack a load of pieces of wood with tiny number stickers. When I found the instructions, they were in English which is a nice surprise. It was very simple to peace together all I need was a screwdriver and a spanner. I was also surprised to find it comes with a floor cover to stop the weeds from breaking thought the sand.
All in all, it took me about a 1 hour to put it together. I found the blue cover needed to be cut down to size. The side bars that support the roof feel a bit flimsy and need filling down. So the bolts that the roof slides up and down on could move freely. As for how long it will last. It comes with a 3-year limited guarantee. So hopefully it will stand the test of time. The wood is very soft so it will need painting at some point to protect the wood.
I was amazed how much sand it took to fill it. To get it to a good level it was 100kg of play sand. On a plus note play sand is on special offer In Tesco’s currently 2 for £4.00 or £2.50 each (10kg Bag).*
My final thoughts on the sandpit for the money it’s amazing. It was easy to make on my own and looks great in the garden. It’s still early days as I’m writing this review on the day we got it. However, if I find any problems with it ill update my review.
The Playtive Junior Sandpit with Roof is available in Lidi from the 30th March for £34.99 while stocks last.
